Hello, fellow readers!

It’s been a while since I’ve done my little “book club,” so to speak. I like to think that everyone subscribed to this blog has willingly chosen to be a part of it—and I truly appreciate that.

Lately, I’ve only managed to read on my Kindle, check it on my blog why its worth your investing: https://tanjasdiary.com/2024/07/18/kindle-a-modern-marvel-or-just-hype-find-out-if-its-worth-your-money/ .

While my baby sleeps, turning pages of a physical book is a big no—she’d wake up instantly!

Plus, it’s so much more convenient to have all my books in one place, and it’s easier to carry around. During the night, the built-in light on my Kindle is a lifesaver. It means I don’t have to wake up my husband—or risk disturbing the baby if she’s sleeping with us. And as any parent knows, those nights can be restless. But at least I get some quality reading time in, and that’s the silver lining I choose to focus on.

So, here are the books I’ve read on my Kindle recently, along with my honest reviews!

1.101 Essays That Will Change the Way You Think – Brianna Wiest (9/10)

This collection of essays is a treasure trove of wisdom on mindfulness, emotional resilience, purpose, and self-growth. Wiest writes with clarity and depth, encouraging readers to challenge limiting beliefs and live more intentionally. It’s the kind of book you’ll return to again and again for insight and perspective.

2. The Wedding People – Alison Espach (9/10)

Set during a destination wedding at a beach resort, this novel smartly explores love, identity, and the pressure of life choices in your 30s. Espach’s writing is sharp and emotionally nuanced, balancing dark humor with heartfelt introspection of our main character. A modern, layered, and surprisingly tender story about second chances, marriage and self-acceptance.

3.Then She Was Gone – Lisa Jewell (10/10)

A masterfully crafted psychological thriller that explores grief, obsession, and maternal love. The story follows a mother searching for answers after her teenage daughter’s disappearance. Jewell’s pacing is impeccable, and the twists are both shocking and emotionally grounded. It’s dark, addictive, and profoundly moving. Author is such an intelligent human being, I truly want to meet her and peek into her brain!

4.The Housemaid – Freida McFadden (8/10)

A fast-paced, twisty domestic thriller about a young woman who becomes a live-in housemaid for a seemingly perfect family—until secrets start to unravel. Would it spark your interest if I told you she’s also a former prisoner—but you’d never guess it? McFadden excels at building tension and creating a claustrophobic atmosphere. While some tropes feel familiar, the reveals are satisfying and keep you hooked to the end.
