I am sure you have all heard about this ancient philosophy that can sound a bit rigidly. However, while it emphasizes certain principles such as acceptance of what cannot be changed and focusing on what is within one’s control, it doesn’t necessarily advocate for a rigid or closed-minded approach to life. Stoicism encourages rationality, self-reflection, and open-mindedness in understanding and adapting to the world around us. Teaches us to focus on what we can control which is the whey we responde to chalanges and our thoughts. For me, exploring this topic was quite interesting, and I found some of their principles to be quite logical.

The core tenets of Stoicism are:

1.Embracing Virtue as the Ultimate Good: Stoicism prioritizes the development of moral excellence, emphasizing virtues like wisdom, courage, justice, and self-discipline.

2.Accepting the Present Moment: Stoics advocate for embracing the present without resistance, fostering contentment and tranquility by acknowledging reality as it unfolds.

3.Discerning the Controllable from the Uncontrollable: Stoicism teaches the importance of recognizing and focusing on what lies within our power to influence, while accepting what is beyond our control.

4.Cultivating Resilience in Adversity: Stoic philosophy equips individuals with strategies to confront challenges with fortitude and resilience, fostering inner strength and perseverance.

5. “Memento mori” is a Latin phrase that translates to “Remember that you will die.” It serves as a reminder of the inevitability of death and the transient nature of life, urging individuals to live mindfully and with a sense of urgency, focusing on what truly matters.

The book that I would recommend to get yourself familiar with this topic is: “The Little Book of Stoicism: Timeless Wisdom to Gain Resilience, Confidence, and Calmness” by Jonas Salzgeber and in the next blog, I can share a few more that I read just in case you liked this philosophy and want to continue learning more.

Moc Stoicizma

Siguran sam da ste svi culi za ovu drevnu filozofiju koja moze zvucati pomalo rigidno i grubo. Medjutim, dok naglasava odredjene principe poput prihvatanja onoga sto ne moze biti promenjeno i fokusiranja na ono sto je u nasoj moci, ne zagovara nuzno krut ili zatvoren pristup zivotu. Stoicizam podstice racionalnost, samopromisljanje i otvorenost uma u razumevanju i prilagodjavanju svetu oko nas. Poducava nas da se fokusiramo na ono sto mozemo kontrolisati, sto je zapravo nacin na koji reagujemo na izazove i tok nasih misli. Za mene je istrazivanje ove teme je bilo prilicno interesantno, i neki od njihovih principa su mi delovali zaista logicno i korisno.

Osnovni principi stoicizma su:

1.Prihvatanje vrline kao najviseg dobra: Stoicizam daje primat razvoju i ocuvanja morala, naglasavajuci vrline koje ce cene poput mudrosti, ljubaznosti, hrabrosti, pravednosti i samodiscipline.

2.Prihvatanje trenutka: Stoici zagovaraju prihvatanje trenutka i dogadjaja bez otpora, podsticuci da time prihvatanjem stvarnosti onakvom kakva jeste i praktikovanjem toga postignemo mir.

3.Razlikovanje sta mozemo kontrolisati a sta ne: Stoicizam uci o vaznosti prepoznavanja i fokusiranja na ono sto je u nasoj moci da uticemo i promenimo, dok prihvatamo ono sto je izvan nase kontrole i ne opterecujemo se. 

4.Razvijanje hrabrosti u izazovima: Stoicizam nas oprema strategijama za suocavanje sa izazovima s hrabroscu, a  cilj je da shvatimo kako je svaki izazov blogoslov jer je sustina zivota da postajemo jaci i istrajniji.

5. “Memento mori” je latinska fraza koja se prevodi kao “Zapamti da ces umreti.” Ona sluzi kao podsetnik na neizbeznost smrti i prolaznu prirodu zivota, pozivajuci pojedince da zive svesno fokusirajuci se na ono sto zaista ima znacaja. 

Knjiga koju bih preporucio da se upoznate s ovom temom je: “Mala knjiga stoicizma” od Jonas Salcgeber- a koja je savrsena za pocetak.  U sledecem blogu mogu podeliti jos nekoliko koje sam procitala, naravno, samo u slucaju da vam se svidela ova filozofija i zelite da nastavite da izucavate vise i krenete da je zaista primenjujete.
