Living a slower life is about enjoying the crispness of a morning, feeling that first sip of morning coffee (as those who’ve watched Ally McBeal know), smelling the aroma of fresh home-baked bread while waking up and giving your full attention to people instead of immediately staring at your phones, laptops, or rushing off to work.

In a world that often values speed and hustle, the concept of living in the present moment can feel like a lost art. However, there are several mindful practices that can help you slow down and embrace the richness of the here and now.

1. Stay in the moment. Practice mindfulness by redirecting your thoughts to the present whenever they wander to past or future worries. Intentionally focus your attention by checking all five senses: what do I see, taste, smell, hear, and feel under my fingertips?

I often see people sitting together, each staring at their own phone. They could do that at home, right? We are wasting precious time, and that is the only thing we can never get back.

4.Embrace nature. Take a walk, absorb, and observe. Watch how the leaves change color through winter into brownish and golden shades, how they fall as snow covers them, and how only rain can play with them in its own special way while the wind whispers secrets. It’s like magic.

5.Eat mindfully. Slow down and enjoy your food, appreciating all the tastes and textures and colours. There is so much lovely food in this world that will bring us that piece while making it, rather than going straightforward with fast food options.

6.Driving at a slower pace increases safety and reduces stress. They say that we often unconsciously drive from home to work, and that it is a kind of meditation. So let’s use that time to do something consciously during the drive that would be good for us.

7.Take a deep breath in and out whenever you feel rushed or stressed to bring yourself back to the present moment and regain a sense of peace. Also, hold your breath for 5-10 seconds and feel your heart rate return to its regular speed.

Ziveti sporijim tempom znaci uzivati u svezini jutra, osetiti prvi gutljaj jutarnje kafe (to znaju svi oni koji su gledali seriju Ally McBeal), udahnuti aromu domaceg i tek pecenog hleba, i posvetiti punu paznju ljudima umesto odmah zuriti ka telefonima, laptopovima ili hitati na posao.

Jer u danasnjem svetu koji znacajno ceni brzinu i haos, pojam prisutnosti u sadasnjem trenutku moze delovati kao izgubljena veština. Medjutim, postoji nekoliko svesnih praksi koje vam mogu pomoci da usporite i prihvatite bogatstvo prisutnosti.

Potpuno se angazujte u razgovoru, slusajte sagovornika, podelite svoja osecanja, srecu, nemire, jer susreti sa prijateljima sluze bas tome. Stalno vidjam ljude kako sede skupa i svako gleda u svoj telefon. To su mogli i kuci raditi, zar ne? Gubimo dragoceno vreme, a to je jedina stvar koju nikada necemo moci vratiti.

4. Prigrlite prirodu. Prosetajte, upijajte i posmatrajte. Posmatrajte kako  lisce menja  boju kroz zimu u braonkaste i zlatne nijanse, kako opada dok ga ususkava sneg i da samo kisa na svoj poseban nacin ume da se igra s njima dok vetar sapuce tajne. To je kao magija.

5. Jedite svesno. Usporite i uzivajte u hrani, ceneci sve ukuse , teksture i boje. Toliko ima divne hrane na ovom svetu, a sam cin njihovog spremanja ce nam doneti mir umesto da grabimo odmah za fast food opcijama.

6. Voznja sporijim tempom podize nivo sigurnosti i smanjuje stres. Kazu da se cesto nesvesno dovezemo od kuce do posla, i da je to neka vrsta meditacije. Onda iskoristimo to vreme da zaista nesto uradimo svesno tokom voznje sto bi nam prijalo. 

7. Uradite jedan dubok uzdah i izdah kada god osetite zurbu ili stres kako biste se vratili u sadasnji trenutak i povratili osecaj mira. Takodje, zadrzite dah 5-10 sekundi i osetite kako vam srcani ritam vraca u uobicajeni brzinu.
