After my morning routine, which I consider the foundation of my day, I realized the need for an easy guide to achieving a relaxing night and ultimately getting a better sleep. I have personally struggled with poor sleeping habits and had to make some changes to finally experience that much-needed rest.

1. Give yourslef some quality time :

This is the part of the day I am looking forward the most, spending some nice time with my hubby. Watching netflix, having conversations about our day, preparing some delicious meals.. simple things like that makes my heart jump. Even though if you are single, use that time to reflect on your day and remember-love is, most importantly, how you treat yourself. Hence, make the most to please and spoil yourself.

2. Sip Something Relaxing:
Brew a cup of herbal tea, warm milk, or your favorite relaxing drink. Savor it slowly as you unwind. Again, I love food, but always trying to eat at least 2,3 h before the bed time, but of course, if the day was just horible and you didn’t eat properly entire day- please make yourself a meal. Your body need nutritions.

3.Put Away Screens:
Exposure to blue light during this sensitive period in a day can make it difficult for you to fall asleep and stay asleep. I’m sure you’ve read all about it. Therefore, about an hour before bedtime, I am saying goodbye to screens and proceeding with number 4 – reading.

4. Enjoy a Good Book:
Trust me, read a book before sleep. Allow yourself to be transported to a different world through the power of storytelling. You can shift the focus and momentarily let go of the worring which I know we all are doing. This will enable you to relax and find piece, even if only for a little while, but more then enough to fall asleap. I am currently reading-> Atomic Habits by James Clear.

5. Dim the Lights:
Lower the lights in your space to signal to your body that it’s time to wind down. Soft lighting helps your brain produce sleep-inducing hormones.

6. Take Care of Your Skin (and teeth) :
Treat yourself with a simple skincare routine.  This is what I use, but bear in mind I have a bit of dryer skin and love that ‘glazed donut’ glow:  Weleda skin food light/ Kiehl’s ultra facial cream with Estee Lauder cleanser and advanced night repair serum.

7.Dry Brushing:
It supercharges blood circulation and gets your lymphatic system flowing smoothly. One of the perks is smoother skin and no longer than 10-15 minutes is needed for the entire body. Choose a brush that’s not too soft or too hard. It should remove dead skin gently without causing irritation. A medium-firm brush is a good choice and the ones from DM or Body Shop are just fine.

8. Mindful Moments:
Count your blessings. Every single night I am counting 3 blessings from what I have learned that day. In very dificult days, it helps you put the focus on something else and makes you voulnerable to see how we are still seen and heard dispate feeling bad or anxious. Try it out!

9.Set Up a Cozy Sleep Space:
Make sure your bedroom is comfortable and feels like you are floating on the clouds. Another tip is to treat your bedroom solely for its main purpose. Avoid bringing work into sleep areas to help prevent burnout and effectively switch off from work when it’s time to relax.

This magical transition between the reallity and dreams holds immense significance. With setting up some basic habits, you would actually get that essential rest.

Let me know how are your night routines?
