I have read a lot about benefits of morning routine how that can be a powerful tool to start your day on the right note. For me it sets the tone for the day ahead and helps me with my anxiety. In this blog post, I will share  my morning routine in hope it will serve you:

  1. Wake Up (Early): I am not a morning person at all. I do set my alarm for 7:00 am every day; however, sometimes it’s not honestly possible to wake up immediately. What helps me to reduce my immediate anxiety is to, from the moment I open my eyes, say, “You can do this, you will be fine, and today is going to be a great day,” even if you do not think so. Then remove the curtains and open the windows so that I can breathe the air and clear the room. Also, if there is a bit of sun, even better. I found that waking up properly provides a quiet time that is important for our mental health.
  2. Make your bed: Making your bed is a simple chore that gives you a quick sense of accomplishment, setting a productive tone for the day. It’s a great little hack for feeling more motivated and organized.
  3. Breathing Meditation: After getting out of bed, I start my day with a 5 min breathing meditation. This practice helps clear my mind and reduces stress a bit. Here is the one I use from YouTube: Manoj Dias – morning energy.
  4. Hydrate & Exercise: Please have one glass of water as soon as you wake up. The benefits are enormous: flushing toxins from the body, increasing immunity, and helping your metabolism, etc. Another point is exercise. I know you are going to roll your eyes, as I did when I first tried this; however, in the morning, it can be whatever you want. Do not put pressure on yourself. A walk for 15-30 minutes, stretching (even in bed), yoga, or a quick jog/gym. Exercise gets the blood flowing and boosts energy levels.
  5. Breakfast: They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I know a lot of people will advice you to prepare a nutritious breakfast filled with protein, fiber, and healthy fats. That, for sure, is the best you can do. However, for me, the most important message to convey is:
    a) please have breakfast and let it be whatever you want. I am not restricting myself from anything, and I enjoy food so much that it would be a sin to take it away from me. Lol.
    b) portion control is the game-changer. Just be mindful of it and practice it.
  6. Journaling: Journaling is a powerful tool, and to be quite fair, it can be written on anything, so no need to overwhelm yourself with that aspect. I found a study that talks about how people who keep a journal are able to regulate emotions better, among other benefits.
  7. Practice Gratitude: I want to be transparent with you; I am not very good at this point and was constantly looking for tools and apps to help me keep my daily gratitude. The only thing that has helped me so far is The Five-Minute Journal. The best thing I purchased. I reflect on the things I’m thankful for in my life in the mornings and evenings as well. This practice help with setting up a positive mindset and reminds me to be present.

A morning routine can transform our life by enhancing our mental clarity, and overall well-being. While my routine may not be suitable for everyone, I encourage you to create your own morning rituals that align with your goals and values. Would be lovely if you can share those with me. 🙂 Consistency is the key, start small and gradually build your routine. Even if we do not feel like doing it, thats fine…do not beat yourself down please. Take your time so we can make the most out of it together!
